See-through Frogs?!

Is dissection in biology class a thing of the past? Well scientists in Japan have just moved us one step closer. Masayuki Sumida, professor at the Institute for Amphibian Biology of state-run Hiroshima University has produced a frog with see-through skin. Now researchers can see how organs and other internal parts react to age and environmental factors. Will these frogs make their way into high school science labs? Macaroni

It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of Macaroni, the guinea pig, on Saturday, September 22nd. She passed quietly in the arms of Kelly after being diagnosed with kidney failure, an untreatable condition at her advanced age. She has been buried on the library property, under a maple tree. Please be sure to give Floradora extra attention, as I am sure she misses her lifelong companion.

Congratulations Esopus Pages!

Our Battle of the Books team kicked butt this past Saturday, tying for 5th of 14 teams. Their first battle was lost with a tie breaker, but they came back to win the entire consolation round! Their final loss was by a score of 10-11. Aidan M., Meghan, Henry, Aidan H., Dylan, and Erica you should be very proud of yourselves. Special thanks to our teen coaches Becky & Hannah--remember it's fun living in a Barbie world.
