Goodbye, Crocodile Hunter

Australian environmentalist, zoo owner, and television personality, Steve Irwin (aka The Crocodile Hunter) died Monday off the coast of Australia while filming an underwater documentary. He was stung in the heart by a stingray barb, and died moments later. Scientists attribute this unusual death to the location of the sting. Irwin was working on a telelvision special with his 8 year old daughter Bindi when the accident occured (his daughter was not on location). The Crikey Fund has been established to help support the zoo Irwin owned with his wife, along with the education of his two children, Bindi and Bob (age three). Animal Planet will be presenting a marathon of Irwin's television work on Sunday, September 10th. For more information check out http://animal.discovery.com/ .
