Teen Tech Week Logo
Teen Tech Week is a brand new program geared toward getting teens to use their libraries and the technology services offered. It will premiere in March 2007, but first YALSA needs a logo.
Any teen or group of teens (max 4) aged 12-18 who have a written parent permission may submit an original logo. All entries are due by midnight May 31, 2006. Entry forms, prizes, and fine print can be found at http://www.ala.org/yalsa .
Pen Pals
Pen pals are an old fashioned idea, but the San Francisco Public Library is looking for teens who want to "meet" teens from the west coast. If you are interested, respond here or talk to Kelly at the library.

Smashing Pumpkins Reunited
It's official, the Smashing Pumpkins have reunited. Well, at least half of the band has. Frontman Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain are working on a new album. There is no word on whether Darcy & James are included, or if not, who is taking their place. Check out http://www.smashingpumpkins.com for updates.

Overdues
What do I do?
What do I do?
This library book is 42
Years overdue.
I admit that it's mine
But I can't pay the fine--
Should I turn it in
Or hide it again?
What do I do?
What do I do?
By Shel Silverstein
Now is the time to return those extremely late items. If you bring in some non-perishable food, like canned and dry goods, we will waive all your overdue fines--no matter how much!

National Library Week
This week, April 3-8 is National Library Week. In celebration, the Town of Esopus Library has scheduled several events.
Food for Fines: During the month of April you may bring in non-perishable food items to wipe out your fines. This does not apply to replacement fees.
National Library Workers Day: This Wednesday, Board of Trustee members will be working the desk to give our dedicated staff a break. Come in to show them your support!
Narnia, On the Big Screen: Friday at 7pm at the Town Hall we will be showing the new Chronicles of Narnia movie. Popcorn & admission are free. Bottled water and soda will be for sale, or feel free to bring your own. Seating is limited so it would be a good idea to bring a folding lawn chair or blanket.
The Weapon Within, Part 2: Women who are interested in learning more about self-defense are invited to Keith Bennett's Karate Academy (53 Albany Avenue, Kingston) this Saturday from 2-3:30pm. The cost of the program is $10 and we ask that you register directly with the studio 845-331-0009.
Survey: A resident survey is available on our webpage or at the Desk. Its main purpose it to find out what the community wants in the new library. There will be a separate Teen Room, so your comments are needed and welcome.
